Restore in the Landscape

AKW hiking is guided, paced and thoughtfully designed to feel both premium and restorative. An effortless way to shift state through shared landscape, quiet conversation and spacious breath.

Set within the rare privacy of a historic estate on the edge of the Wicklow Mountains National Park, it draws on Scarr Mountain and the surrounding trails, with optional routes extending along the Wicklow Way and through open mountain terrain. Journeys can be tailored from gentle pathways to more dynamic orienteering-style movement, navigating “line of sight” across natural obstacles for a deeper physical engagement.

More than a location, it is a threshold into Ireland’s largest protected wilderness, where structured exploration meets untamed scale and the landscape itself becomes the restorative medium.

Crafted Journeys Through Wild Terrain

Where Every Step Transforms

Join AKW guides on journeys through untamed wilderness - across heather-laced hills, over ancient blanket bog and toward softly rounded summits shaped by time and weather. Move through shifting atmospheres where low cloud and broken sunlight drift across moorland and undulating peaks, transforming each step into a quiet encounter with the unknown.

At Anam Kara Wellness, hiking becomes more than exercise, it is a refined expression of adventure and resilience, where challenge is met with composure and each ascent carries its own sense of achievement. Carefully curated, bespoke trekking experiences traverse upland terrain with thoughtful attention to ability, pace and presence, creating journeys that are as restorative as they are expansive.

Sophie

Our Founder Says

The Wicklow mountains unfold in gentle, rolling waves of green and brown, their rounded peaks softened by heather and mist. The air still feels ancient, carrying a quiet that makes the landscape seem untouched by time. Hiking in the Wicklow Mountains offers a mix of physical and mental benefits. The varied terrain offers a true full body workout and improves cardiovascular fitness, building endurance and reducing stress, whilst experiencing nature in its most untouched wild beauty. As my husband always says, “There’s no such thing as bad conditions, only poor choice of equipment.
