The Experience

The energy of winter is deep and potent. In the month of January, we are still in the depths of winter, a time when we are meant to hibernate, lay low and nourish our bodies with deep rest and seasonal foods. This deeply nourishing Yin time gives us the needed time to pause, rest and reflect.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is the time of the Water Element, where we work with the Kidney meridian which houses our Jing Qi – the storehouse of our vital essence and reserves. The Jing Qi relates to our genetics, governs growth, reproduction, aging and how we move through the cycle of life.  Even though the Winter is a time of rest and stillness, there is deep work going on within us -  where our energy is collected and held in reserve, ready for the Spring time.

This afternoon retreat will help us lean into that space of deep rest and nourishment through gentle yoga and restful restorative poses; a short journaling reflection will help us to contemplate the year ahead; followed by a nurturing acupuncture treatment that will help us fill our energy reserves.  After our practice, we have the option of a community sauna in either the box or barrel sauna, to bring heat into our bones; followed by seasonal platters by the fireside in the Matcha bar, to nourish us during this season of hibernation.
